We welcomed Julie back. We missed her.

Our Saturday stuff a bus on Saturday was well done. Thanks for everyone for showing up. We are doing a distinct wise stuff a bus. 132 clubs will be joining in district wise. From Babylon to East Hampton. The stuff a bus will run for 3 days, but our club is doing Saturday, Feb 27th.  Ours is at King Kullen in Center Moriches. Tom Kerr wants to take this state wide.

Bob passed the committee list around. We have 27 people to raise money to run the camp and this is a big commitment and a big deal. We need your help. We need help running a committee or co-chairing.  If you did not sign up, Bob will sign you up for a committee.

Squaw party is Feb 26th at Ladakins. $24 a head. There will NOT be a meeting on the 25th. The meeting on the 26th will be our weekly meeting. This is our thank you meeting for the squaws.

March 13th Billy Joel/auction at Rock Hill. We need each member to either put together a basket or donate something for the event. The success of the nite will be on the auction as well as getting sponsors and ads for the playbill book. Tickets are $75 a piece.

Amanda Tooker spoke about her trip to Bolivia. She thanked us for helping is to raise money for her trip. She taught English (as a part of group of 12) to the people there and she brought back souvenirs for us to look at.

We honored Tom Tebbins as our Merchant of the Month. He does a lot for the camp. He steps right up and he is a big pillar in the community.

Students of the month, We honored Kurt Hernon, Brandon Barsky, Kristine O’Hara, And Joe Perricone. Wonderful people and students.

Muriel has the application for the Rotary green pages. Only $15 per entry. We will be taking an ad.

Ed Romaine’s dad passed away. Wake at Sinnickson’s on Sunday.

Follow-up Business:

The Board implemented a By-laws Committee - Tom, Laura, Kevin, and Steve are on it. The purpose of the committee is to determine if there is a way to extend the terms of the officers to two years and perhaps have a staggered board.  Tom Kerr suggests that we talk to other presidents and officers who have already implemented two year terms. Updates to come.

Bob created a scholarship committee headed up by Muriel and Barbara to set down in writing the criteria we use to determine who receives our annual scholarships. Updates to come.

The advisor for the Eastport South Manor Interact club got a job in another school. So, we are in limbo with respect to Interact in that school. Update to come.

Sergeants-$111. Foundation-$22. 50/50-$62 (Barbara won). Haiti donation-$561.

Ongoing Business:

·        Bob would like us to contribute $100 for the year for Rotary Foundation. It is not mandatory and it would be a nice showing from the club.

·        Tom has been writing an article that will be going into the south shore press every couple of weeks. If you have news that you want in, please send it to Tom.

·        If you have made up a meeting or attended another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as attending a meeting.

Next Meeting:

·        Ladakins, Thursday, January 21st

See you next week,

Deborah Brown-Volkman

Club Secretary
