Joe got the sizes from Joan Witkowski for the gifts for the Squaws for Squaw appreciation night which is Friday, February 9th. We won't have a meeting on That Thursday night. The Friday night meeting will be at Latikins at 7 to 11 PM with Squaws and their Husbands. $23.00 each. It will be a cash bar.
The Students of the month of January will be at our Feb. 1st meeting with their families. They are Lauren Bell (Eastport) and Liann Choi, Center Moriches. We pay for the Students dinner but parents pay for their own dinner.
There was a discussion about whether we will buy dictionaries for Tanger school part of the William Floyd district. To be continued and discussed by the club board.
Barbara reported on the Christmas families we helped. There were 4 Families she received the names from the Methodist church in East Moriches. Then she heard of another family that had 7 children and they were all given Two toys each plus other things and all the families was given a gift certificate to Kohl's for $100.00 Plus Gift Certificate to King Kullen for $100.00. Some of the monies came from other sources such as the Ricco foundation gave $500.00, Chamber gave $200.00; Denis in our club gave $100.00; Garry gave a coat & hat. Also the Martinez family home was burned out and we helped them out also. This was written up in one of the local papers. Thank you Barbara for all your hard work.
Muriel reported on Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and said King Kullen gave everything at the sale prices. Previously we were only given 4 at sale price and rest at full price, so this saved a lot of money. Thank you Muriel for all your hard work.
Garry presented us with the proposed budget for 2006 -2007 that he and Deborah worked on, there were many questions and a discussion followed. We all took a copy home to look over and there will be further discussions. Thank you Garry and Deborah for all your efforts. They also worked with Ed Wesche on this so thank you Ed. The Treasurer has a very important roll.
Garry mentioned the Paul Harris and since the Foundation does so much we should put more effort in donating to it.
The small Duck race profit should go to the Club.
Each Committee should file a written report so we will have something to look back on from year to year. Then we would know what expenses to plan for in the future.
Newt and Bill Dalton won the 50/50. They picked the Jack of Diamonds. The Game goes on.
The Foundation game was won by Nancy and Bob Knotoff and she was scratching off the tickets she won as we finished the meeting. Next week she will bring the prize. That's one way to get our guests to return.
