In Attendance Due To Make-Up’s:  Janice

Guests: Tom & Linda Kerr

Topics of Discussion:

We had a moment of silence for Julie husband Dave. Our hearts and wishes go to Julie and her family.

We will have stuff a bus on the 9th. Bob needs to know that we will have coverage for every stuff a bus going forward. Muriel put together a master list and if you cannot make a date on the list, please switch with someone else.

Tom Kerr spoke to us about a football pool, $1,000 for each club. The person that wins does not get the money; they get a Paul Harris fellow credit.

Tom Kerr is very excited about the district wide stuff a bus. He would love if the program went nationwide.

March 13th Billy Joel/auction at Rock Hill. Wendy double booked our date, so she will not be able to the auction for us. Bob will be our auctioneer if we can’t get anyone else. Our goal is to sell all 120 tickets (at $75 a ticket), get sponsors, and get items for the auction.

Laura and Deborah have been working on the committee list. The list was passed around and all people should either run a committee or be a part of it.

Barbara read the letters from our adopt-a-family. They loved our gifts and were very grateful for our generosity. They said it was their best holiday ever. Great job Barbara.

The advisor for the Eastport South Manor Interact club got a job in another school. So, we are in limbo with respect to Interact in that school. Update to come.

Our exchange student is with the Huntington club. We are sharing him for the moment, but because we did not have a school to house him, we had him registered there. He is still a part of our club. Joanne had a student stay with her 28 years ago. His mother called Joanne the other day. They talked for about half an hour and she still talked about things we did for her son while he was there. Bob got an email from Melina. She wished us a good holiday and happy new year.

Follow-up Business:

The Board implemented a By-laws Committee - Tom, Laura, Kevin, and Steve are on it. The purpose of the committee is to determine if there is a way to extend the terms of the officers to two years and perhaps have a staggered board.  Tom Kerr suggests that we talk to other presidents and officers who have already implemented two year terms. Updates to come.

Bob created a scholarship committee headed up by Muriel and Barbara to set down in writing the criteria we use to determine who receives our annual scholarships. Updates to come.

We are having Merchant of the Month" and student of the month next week.  We voted for Tebbins Steel for January.

Squaws party at Ladakins either at the end of February or the beginning of March. Date to come.

Sergeants-$107. Foundation $21.

Ongoing Business:

·        Bob would like us to contribute $100 for the year for Rotary Foundation. It is not mandatory and it would be a nice showing from the club.

·        Tom has been writing an article that will be going into the south shore press every couple of weeks. If you have news that you want in, please send it to Tom.

·        If you have made up a meeting or attended another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as attending a meeting.

Next Meeting:

·        Ladakins, Thursday, January 14th

See you next week,

Deborah Brown-Volkman

Club Secretary
