Topics of Discussion:
-
If you signed up for spooky walk, please
show up. We need as many people as possible. Parking was an issue last
weekend and we don’t want a repeat issue.
-
Stuff a bus is coming up on November 7th
at the King Kullen shopping center in Center Moriches. A sign up sheet
will be available at next week’s meeting.
-
The holiday party is on December 5th.
Peter and Barbara are planning it. There will be a magician, hay
rides, tree lighting ceremony, Santa Claus. Cost is $20 a person. Kids
are free. Everyone brings their own gift for their children, wrapped,
with a value of no more than $15. Need a headcount 2 weeks prior.
Payment and gifts due a week in advance. If you sign up and don’t show
up, you still have to pay as we are ordering food for you.
-
We will be meeting at the camp for
November and December. Some members want to meet once a month at the
camp instead rather than every week. Some members want a consistent
place. Not everyone is happy with the new idea. We have tabled the
conversation for next week.
-
Andy induction was moved to next week when
Bob returns.
-
New members. Steve wants us to advertise
ourselves in the local paper with our picture and accomplishments. We
would also ask for new members in the ad.
-
The Eastport South Manor Interact students
voted to sell our holiday raffle tickets. Barbara also encouraged us
to sell our tickets too.
-
We need to put the program speakers in the
quill again.
-
We need pick a date for student of the
month. Possibly the night the District Governor comes to visit.
-
Spooky walk attendance was way down.
Hopefully this weekend will be better.
-
We made a motion to send Bob’s brother
some money to help with the funeral costs for the death of Bob’s step
niece. No notice was made of the death so many members did not know.
In lieu of flowers, the family wanted donations to help with the
funeral costs. Motion was made to send $200. Motion was approved.
New Business
-
Christopher Beuhler was the program. He
gave a presentation about noise induced hearing loss.
-
Hereditary and chronic exposure to loud
noises is the 2 factors that contribute the most to hearing problems
in the US. Many people don’t realize they have a hearing loss so it’s
important to get your ears checked on a regular basis. Hearing aids
can last for 5 years if you take care of them well. You should
schedule an appointment with an audiologist is you are concerned about
your hearing.
-
Sergeants-$5. 50/50-$49. (Ed won.)
Foundation $17.
Old Business:
-
Bob would like us to contribute $100 for
the year for Rotary Foundation. It is not mandatory and it would be a
nice showing from the club.
-
Laura and Christopher will be the
committee for the Spaghetti Dinner. We are thinking Friday, April 16th.
Discussion still ongoing on this issue.
-
Tom has been writing an article that will
be going into the south shore press every couple of weeks. If you have
news that you want in, please send it to Tom.
-
If you have made up a meeting or attended
another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as
attending a meeting.
