New Business:
· Muriel dropped off the towels and they were thrilled. · Muriel read the email that she sent to Australia. · Spooky walk needs people to cook that night in addition to parking. We will step up and help with the cooking. Please get to spooky walk early to help out. Next week we will pass out a sign up sheet. · For the 10/16 meeting, Hans Luhmer for Adopt A Troop, it would be great if we cold bring supplies that the troops needs at this meeting. Supplies needed are ground coffee, hot chocolate, Tupperware, chocolate bars, peanuts, candy, cookies, gum, chapstick, holiday decorations, International calling cards, and baby wipes. · Muriel ordered the dictionaries. The date to give out the dictionaries is October 10th at 9:30am. They will have an assembly and a presentation. Please let Muriel know if you can attend. Muriel applied for the simplified grants to cover the cost of the dictionaries. · September 17th is the date for the Fucco Goldf Outing next year. Please put that date into your calendar now so you can be there to help. They need our help. · We did the sergeants report, Foundation, and the 50/50. Sergeants-$110. 50/50-$40. (Rich won) Foundation-$20.
Old Business:
· Please bring your check made out to the Rotary Foundation for $100 for the Every Rotarian Every Year program. You can contribute also at http://www.rotary.org/en/Contribute/Pages/ridefault.aspx This donation is optional. · If you have made up a meeting or attended another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as attending a meeting.
Speaker & Topic: · Cammie Kaiser – Youth Exchange was our speaker. · Goal of the program is to promote world peace thru cultural understanding. · Began in 1927. First student in our district 1969. · Available 15 to 18 ½ at the time of departure. · This year we have 18 inbound and 15 outbound students. · Students need to be in the top 3 of their class to go for the year program. For the short term program which last only a few weeks over the summer, there is no grades requirement. · It costs about $3,000 for the student to go for the year. · Kids come back with more confidence.
