Topics of Discussion:
**AS A REMINDER, WE ARE NOT MEETING FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS. HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY.**
Julie’s husband is in the hospital. We send her our best wishes.
Bob’s uncle passed away. We send our condolences to him and his family.
Joe is going to knee surgery on December 23rd. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Janice will be having a New Year ’s Eve party. Her home, 9pm. Please feel free to bring something.
The circle in front of the T building is a fire lane. Please do not park in the circle.
We are meeting at Senix Inn on January 7th. Places we will be meeting going forward will be discussed then.
Bob wants to cancel stuff a bus until there is more club support. No one was there on Saturday and he had to call his family to come down and help. We need support from everybody. The club does not want to cancel stuff a bus, we don’t want to punish the food pantry. Next stuff a bus is January 9th. IF YOU CANNOT BE THERE, YOU HAVE TO NOTIFY BOB ASAP. If the district in February, that will be our stuff a bus for February.
We voted for our new officers for the 2010-2011 year. Officers are Bill president, Peter president elect, Deborah Secretary, Peter treasurer, Barbara Vice President, and Past President Bob. Steve made the motion, Kevin seconded it. Secretary cast the final vote.
Follow-up Business:
The Board implemented a By-laws
Committee - Tom, Laura, Kevin, and Steve are on it. The purpose of the
committee is to determine if there is a way to extend the terms of the
officers to two years and perhaps have a staggered board. Tom Kerr
suggests that we talk to other presidents and officers who have already
implemented two year terms. Updates to come. Bob created a scholarship committee headed up by Muriel and Barbara to set down in writing the criteria we use to determine who receives our annual scholarships. Updates to come.
We will be implementing a "Merchant of the Month" where we honor a merchant on the same day that we honor a student of the month. The nominations for the merchant will come from the floor. Whoever nominates a merchant must explain why. That individual will be responsible for communicating the honor to the chosen merchant. We voted for our January and February merchants.
Squaws party at Ladakins either at the end of February or the beginning of March. Date to come.
Sergeants-$51. Foundation $13.
Ongoing Business:
· Billy Joel event is at Rock Hill on March 13th. Muriel will be running the auction and she needs stuff from our members. She will be sending an email asking us what donations we can get. · Bob would like us to contribute $100 for the year for Rotary Foundation. It is not mandatory and it would be a nice showing from the club. · Tom has been writing an article that will be going into the south shore press every couple of weeks. If you have news that you want in, please send it to Tom. · If you have made up a meeting or attended another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as attending a meeting.
Next Meeting:
· Senix Inn, Thursday, January 7th · 100% attendance, please. It is picture night. · Dress is Business attire.
