To Make-Up’s:,

Guests: Pauline, Marie from the Westhampton Club.
Topics of Discussion:
-
Muriel spoke
about the district meeting.
-
Nesconset/St.
James charter will be pulled for lack of interest and response
of its members.
-
Nassau County
needs more members. If their numbers do not increase in one
year, Nassau and Suffolk districts may have to combine into one.
We have over 1,000 members.
-
The district
conference has 200 people signed up so far. If you do not sign
up by 2/15, the block of rooms will be turned over to the cruise
line. There are a lot of great events planned. It should be a
great time for all. To find out more, please visit
http://www.rotary7260.org/
-
For 2010, the
district wants to do something new. It’s going to be a weekend
at a hotel in Nassau County. The meeting will combine Suffolk,
Nassau and NYC presidents. There should be about 120 people.
-
The gift of
life is still alive. Children in Haiti and Honduras will be
getting surgeries.
-
We have met
enough requirements for getting the president’s citation. Great
job Muriel! The president’s citation is a special certificate we
get from rotary international and the district governor. We have
received this before and it’s a big honor.
-
There are 19
outbound exchange students next year.
-
Every quarter,
we have a council of presidents. Presidents share what’s going
on their clubs. Next one is Match 7th.
New Business:
-
We had
stuff-a-bus and it was very successful.
-
Werner turned
70 last week and his daughter requested that instead of birthday
gifts, he get donations to his favorite charity. The camp is his
favorite charity.
-
There will be
an Easter egg roll at the camp on Palm Sunday, April 5th.
We will be inviting the community and the other clubs to
participate. Newt is in charge. Children must be accompanied by
an adult. We will offset the cost by charging to take a picture
with the Easter bunny. This is a family event. Children up to 5th
grade.
-
Our wine and
cheese party at the camp has been moved to Sunday, May 3rd.
-
Westhampton
rotary March 8th from
noon to
8pm at
Atlantica at Dune Road.
-
We
did the sergeants report, Foundation,
and the 50/50. Sergeants-$58 50/50-$30 (Marie from the
Westhampton Club won) Foundation $20
