BRING A FRIEND TO ROTARY

The Meeting was begun by President Bob before I arrived.  Yes, I was late.  Which is rather unusual.  He told me that Joe Maag said the prayer. Present at the meeting was Werner, Betsy, Bill, Bob D., Peter, Susan, Rich, Roy, Garry, Cheryl, Joe, Barbara, Julie, Newt, President Elect Steve, Secretary Joanne, and President Bob...... 17 members.  Rich brought a guest who owns a 7- 11 who is interested in becoming a member his name is Keith Kane.  We had two other well know guests Nancy & Bob Knotoff from the Westhampton Club.

Make a note the meeting for April 12th will be held at Paul's Restaurant in Speonk.  Werner set this up and it should be a nice change.  Thank you Werner.

Rich brought a basket of Coffee related items to be raffled at the Bowl-a-rama.  Thank you Rich it is much appreciated.  The day is March 24th at 6 PM to get set up and teamed up.  The game starts at 7PM.  It take place at the Shirley Bowl.  Tickets are $25.00 for Adults & $20.00 for children.  President Bob gave out the tickets at this meeting.  If you were not present see Bob to obtain them.  No one brought any wine or liquor to help me make some baskets up for this and the Spaghetti Dinner (April 19th).  Please I can't make up the baskets if I have nothing to put in them.  I will be also making candy and cookie baskets for the kids interest, that I will do on my own, but I am also making up a basket of pocket books (reading).  so far know one has brought any of these, please, please help.  Barbara is making up a toy basket and if anyone has any new toys they don't need give them to her.  Thanks.

Keith Kane is proposed for membership in the Moriches Rotary Club for the first time.  Any objections to him becoming a member please tell the Rotary Club Board.

This Thursday their will be a program on an Energy Project to insulate the buildings at the camp.  Steven as program chairman set this up with Tom Chieffo.  Sounds interesting.

Garry filled us in on Ryla - it takes place at Camp De Wolfe in Wading River on March 24th & 25th and we are sponsoring 2 children from Eastport -Southmanor and 2 children from Center Moriches. Ryla means Rotary Youth Leadership awards.

Susan & Bill said the swim was taking place at St. Joseph's this Sunday, March 4th and she also wanted to thank Ed Wesche for sponsoring a swim.  Nice going Ed.  Anyone else in the club who can attend these swims contact Susan for times and dates or if you can sponsor a swim let her know that also.

The 50/50 was picked by Julie and Barbara. We also had the Sergeants Report..

The Foundation was won by Bob Dovale and he won a gift certificate from Joe Maag's Center Moriches Cleaners - thank you Joe for coming through with a gift.  March 8th Bob Dovale will supply the gift.

The Student of the month had to be postponed and will be rescheduled.

I ordered Trading Banners and they will be here in 4 or 5 weeks.  I will bring one to the meeting to show you what they will look like.  They have the Rotary wheel with a sun and green and blue trees and a River which says Rotary Club Moriches Home of Camp Paquatuck. We had to pay a $60.00 set up charge since it was such a long time since we ordered them. I also order a few pens in boxes to give out to guests who do a program --- to thank them for doing so.

See you Thursday at Tavern on Main.  Hoping some of the members who have not been attending will attend and start attending regularly, we miss you and it is also hurting our attendance very badly.  Which is the next thing I will be working on today.

Steve Kronman will be attending Pets and Sets on March 10th and March 22nd.  Joanne will be attending Sets on March 22nd. which will take place at the camp from 4 PM to 9PM.  Someone will need to take the minuets that night as it is a Thursday.

That's all there is............................Joanne
