The meeting was started at 6:40 PM  by Joanne Walker Secretary, and acting President of Moriches Rotary.  Twelve members were present at the beginning of the meeting and 13th member present at the end of the meeting.  The pledge was lead by Joanne, the song lead by Werner Sommer, and the prayer was said by Joanne.  Present at the meeting was Peter, Bob D., Betsy, Werner, Lou, Janice, Deborah, Muriel, Cheryl, Barbara, Newt, and Secretary and acting President Joanne.

Barbara brought us up to date about the Bowl-a-rama.  A fun night was had by all that attended.  The prizes were very nice thanks to the efforts of Barbara and Joanne. Thanks also goes to Julie & Deborah for their efforts manning the door and keeping track of the raffles alone with Barbara.

Bob Dovale brought us up to date on the upcoming spaghetti Dinner on April 19th.  The placemat adds are doing very well and there are only 3 spots left.  Lets please get those spots filled.  The 1500 Meatballs have arrived and are up at the camp in the freezer.  They were provided by G.H. Provisions.  Betsy and Peter are also on this committee and doing their job very well also.

We have a date for the Billy Joel concert ( Henry).  It is July 16th the Theater can be ours. 

Next years incoming student is from Chile.  Her name is Maria and she will be arriving in Sept. 2007.

Bob Dovale will be housing Melina after April 9th.  Please feel free to invite her out by calling Bob to make arrangements.

NEXT WEEK AFTER THE REGULAR MEETING THERE WILL BE A CLUB BOARD MEETING.

NEXT WEEK IS ALSO STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH & APRIL.  Janice said that Tom has the certificates framed and ready to go.

We brought Doctor Sighn in as a returning member.  Muriel did the honors by pinning him.

We also discussed the members who have not been here in months and it was decided that they should take leave of absence or that they should resign.  The Rotary rule is that you can't miss more then 3 meetings unless you are making up at other clubs.  It is killing our attendance records. Also they are not participating in the projects we are working on, they are not active and that is not fair to those that are giving there all.

We discussed a letter that Joanne received on the Internet about a little 5 year old boy name Alex Mardjani from Old Neck Rd., Center Moriches.  A Past President from Bellport was having dinner at Michaelangelos and Alex's Aunt Lisa was a waitress. Alex is going to be going to Schnieder Children's Hospital for massive Chemo and radiation as soon as he is well enough.  They have a child of 7 at Center Moriches Schools and the Mon is expecting her third child in May.  This will be discussed at the board meeting next week.  Hopefully Ed will be there so we can discuss what spare money we can give to this cause. Kenneth Weinbrecht also called my office and I returned his call from my cell phone while on vacation last week.

Janice added to the info we had and she brought with her raffle tickets that the school is handling to help this family get the money they need.  They do have health insurance but there never is enough in a situation like this.  We bought all the raffle tickets she had and we made them all out in the child's name.

Barbara and Muriel won the 50/50 and they drew the 4 of Spades.

Bob Dovale contributed to $100.00 to the sergeants report because his Mom who is very ill was able to go on a trip with the family.  We all wish her well, Bob.

We have the 50/50. foundation raffle, and sergeants report. Muriel won a bottle of wine that she gave to me for the baskets for the spaghetti dinner.

Muriel brought up the locked side door at Tavern thinking it is a fire hazard.  I discussed this with Ali after the meeting and he said from the inside you can get out -- it is perfectly legal as far as a fire hazard is concerned.  He also said that I can ring the bell to get in when carrying a lot of things for the meeting.
