Topics of Discussion:

 

  • We are doing stuff a bus on 5/2. We are changing the location to Waldbaum’s in Center Moriches to get new people to donate.
  • Stephanie Codd was awarded Student of the Month. Congrats to her.
  • Dr. Donald James, Superintendent of the Center Moriches School District spoke about the school district. The school district is doing very well. The kids work hard and the parents are very supportive of the school and the kids. He said the school district was working hard not to raise taxes while still providing great programs for the kids. HE ALSO SAID HE LOVED WHAT WE ARE DOING AND IS OFFICIALLY JOINING AS A MEMBER. Tonight is his first meeting.
  • The Australia Rotary club that was going to get a district grant for the camp cannot get the grant due to the economy. They did make a donation of $500 which will go towards the PA system.
  • Reminder, the camp board meeting is at the camp on Monday May 4th at 7pm in the Chapman Building.
  • We had a few moments of silence to honor Stan & Cliff, loved Rotarians who passed away this month. Steve got a thank you from Stan’s family thanking us for the flowers.
  • Reminder the squaws are holding their Chinese auction on Friday, May 1st at Polish Hall at 7pm. You can get tickets at the door.

 

New Business:

 

·         Bob’s installation dinner, Thursday, June 25th at the camp. $25 a person; headcount 2 weeks prior, check 1 week prior. Spouses and families are invited.  PLEASE LET PETER KNOW IF YOU WILL BE COMING AND HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU ARE BRINGING.

  • Theresa Leone has been proposed as a new member. This is the 2nd week that she is in the quill.
  • We did the sergeants report, Foundation, and the 50/50. Sergeants-$95 50/50-$50 (Tom won)  Foundation $14.

 

Old Business: 

 

  • On Monday, May 11, 2009 the FDR Special Needs Scouting Division will hold its annual golf classic at the Hamlet Wind Watch Golf and County in Hauppauge. This year the Division will be honoring Steve Fuoco. Event begins at 7:30am. Please put this date in your calendar.
  • Beginning in the July, the monthly district newsletter will be delivered in bulk to the clubs. You will be able to pick up an issue when you attend a meeting. An email copy will also be sent to you.
  • Tom has been writing an article that will be going into the south shore press every couple of weeks. If you have news that you want in, please send it to Tom.

·         If you have made up a meeting or attended another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as attending a meeting.

If you cannot get a speaker/program for your evening, you are the program. If you can’t do an evening, please let us know right away. Programs are 15 minutes long, and whoever you bring as your speaker/program, their dinner is on Rotary.

Upcoming Events for 2009:

 

  • Stuff-A-Bus. May 2nd from 10am to 3pm.
  • District Conference May 9-14, 2009.
  • Squaws card parties are June 5th, November 6th, December 4th   at the camp.  6:30pm to 10pm Auction at the camp, Saturday, June 6th.
  • Stuff-A-Bus. June 6th from 10am to 3pm.

  • Spooky Walk. (4 nights) October 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th.
