The meeting began with the pledge, song and a  prayer by President Elect Muriel.   The following members

were present.  Barbara, Muriel, Tom, Dr. Sighn, Peggy, Bob Dovale, Roy, Werner, Deborah, Susan, Bill , Peter, Janice, Cheryl, Newt, Treasurer Rich, Secretary Jaonne, President Steve.  the following guests were also present:  Paul Haimes from Westhampton Rotary -he brought with him the GSE team from the Philippines Judd Dimafaut team leader & a Rotarian form district 3770, Lala Tomas, Febe Paat, Anabelle Gaddi, Andrew De Guzman, & Janet Sardevn.  We also had as our guests Ryan Chieffo who just graduated Law school (Tom is the proud father)  and Rob Rubio up for membership in our club.

 

Next Saturday night at 6:30 PM May 31, 2008 is our Bowl-a-rama at Shirley Bowl.  $25.00 for adults, children $20.00 each.  It includes bowling,& hero sandwiches & salads..  There will also be raffles.  Hampton Bays Rotary will be there also to join us in this event.  E-mail Bob if you are preparing to come.  His E-mail address is  rlw74@optonline.net

 

There is a member of the Brentwood Club that can get things we need to publicize on channel 55 .He is a new member as is a PR person. 

 

Saturday was also clean up at the camp and Westhampton, Port Jefferson and Rocky Point, Moriches, were present. Interact from Center Moriches H. S. was on clean up duty on Main Street, Center Moriches.  Back at the Camp many flats of flowers got planted and the camp is looking good.

 

Rob Rubio is applying for membership in our Rotary Club and will be sworn in this week. He was formally an owner of Coachworks in Westhampton Beach.

 

It was announced that we now have 317 paid campers sign up for Camp Paquatuck this summer.  It is going very well do to Bill Dalton and our board members.

 

We had the 50/50 and Sergeants report.

 

The Philippines team leader Judd spoke about their country etc. He presented our Club with a flag which said

Tugoegarano Rainborn, District 3770 Philippines, Tuguegarao City, Cagayon Philippines.  Janet climbed Mt. Everest and what made her proud of this event was the fact that she was from the Philippines and it was for her country that she did this.   At the time she had just had a baby who was 3 months old.  Her husband is an Athlete.  He and her parents are minding her son while she is in America.  She had such a great personality and spoke such perfect English.   In the Philippines English is their second language.  Anabelle Gaddi another team member is a 5th grade teacher.  Thank you so much Paul for bring them to our Club.  I remember back to the Indian team, the Australian team and the German teams all being here and how they remain in my memory and in my heart forever.  Some I still here from which is wonderful.

 

Next Thursday Wendy Walsh from the Westhampton Rotary Club will be here she will be our guest Speaker.  She will be talking on the Auction as she is the Auctioneer .
