Topics of Discussion:      

• Scholarships – Muriel spoke about getting Eastport South Manor back up and running with the Interact, student of the month and scholarships.

• This year’s scholarship recipients have been chosen and will be awarded the scholarship at a ceremony in June at the school (not at graduation)

• Muriel mentioned that all of the students of the months were amazing individuals and are sure to go on to extraordinary futures.  It was amazing to read about them and to meet them – if ever anyone has the chance to act as a judge you should do it.

• Steve will be the Assistant District Governor and Muriel  will be the District Secretary.  Congratulations!

• Information List and the District Newsletter – Everyone must provide Muriel with a list of their current information by the end of May (name, address, phone number, cell phone number and  email address)  The newsletter will be sent via email. If you do not have and email address please let Deborah know – she will print the newsletter and have copies available to you at the next meeting.  Members will also receive a copy of the information list.

•  Barbara’s speaker/guest was Jean Gilrane. Jean did a marvelous presentation on Model A cars, her hobby and her love.  Thanks Jean!

New Business:

·         The Auction at the Camp is June 6^th. Everyone will need to think of ideas, pull together baskets, and or ask for donations of items or services to be auctioned off. Please bring your list of auction items to the meeting on May 21^st 

·         On Wednesday May 20^th  from 6-9 pm The Riverhead Rotary is hosting “Rotary Uncorked” a wonderful event at Martha Clara Vineyards. There will be music, fellowship, tastings and samplings  from some local wineries, bakeries, restaurants, and breweries. They will have raffles and auctions. It is $75 in advance or $80.00 at the door. You can register on line. Last year it was sold out. 

·         The May Stuff-a-bus was the last one until November.

Old Business: 

·         A check was given to Jean Gilrane representing the proceeds from the Spaghetti dinner.

·         Tom has been writing an article that will be going into the south shore press every couple of weeks. If you have news that you want in, please send it to Tom.

·         If you have made up a meeting or attended another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as attending a meeting.

Upcoming Events for 2009:

• Wednesday May 20^th  from 6-9 pm The Riverhead Rotary is hosting “Rotary Uncorked” at Martha Clara Vineyards.
• Squaws card parties are June 5^th, November 6th, December 4^th   at the camp.  6:30pm to 10pm Auction at the camp, Saturday, June 6^th.

·     Bob’s installation dinner, Thursday, June 25^th at the camp. $25 a person; headcount 2 weeks prior, check week prior. Spouses and families are invited.

·      District Governor’s installation is at the Irish Pub in East Islip on June 21^st.

• Annual Duck Barbeque and Big Duck Race. Sept. 13th.
• Octoberfest September 25^th, 26^th and 27^th at the camp.
• Spooky Walk. (4 nights) October 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th.
