  • The family picnic will be on Sunday, August 30th if the weather permits. CHECK YOUR EMAIL AT 11AM ON SUNDAY TO SEE IF THE PICNIC IS STILL ON. Rich and MaryAnn are the committee and the theme is a Luau. We may or may not do the pig roast based on the weather. If we have the picnic, please bring a side dishes. You are welcome to bring alcohol.

  • Next week’s meeting is at Jack and Diane’s in Speonk. Same time different place.

  • The district fundraiser is at the ducks game on Tuesday, September 1st. Tickets are $15; $9 goes for the price of the tickets, and $6 goes towards polio plus. Muriel will be committing to our club buying 45 tickets. The game begins at 7pm.

  • Budget has been voted on and passed during last week’s board meeting.

  • Muriel put in an application for a simplified grant for the holiday baskets. Let’s see what we get from the District.

  • Julie is in our heart and prayers. Good well wishes to Dave and to you too Julie.

  • Gary did not have the surgery. It was too dangerous. He is home now and resting.

New Business

  • Sergeants-$62. 50/50-$38. (Janice won.) Foundation $13.

Old Business:

  • Bob passed around the sheet for the Fucco Golf Tournament. If you did not sign up yet, please let Bob know ASAP. Muriel needs donations for the silent auction.

  • Steve needs golfers and sponsors. If we can get one to two foursomes from our club, Steve would be happy. Hole sponsors are $150.  $375 a person to play which includes golf, dinner, and raffle tickets.

  • Steve Fucco is trying to get Joe Piscapo to come to the camp. Joe likes to do community type things and will be coming to the camp as soon as arrangements are made. As soon as Tom gets a date, he will let us know.

  • Bob and Peter have spoken to RCN about doing radio ads for us 2 weeks prior to Oktoberfest. Bob and Peter have had many vendors call.

  • Our exchange student from Brazil will be arriving on August 31st.

  • Rotary Leadership Institute is coming up on Saturday, October 3rd. Bob will email the club information about the day. If you have not gone, it is worthwhile. It’s $95 a person. The club will pay for half.

  • Bob would like us to contribute $100 for the year for Rotary Foundation. It is not mandatory and it would be a nice showing from the club.

  • Duck Barbeque logistics. (Rich went over some more.) There will be a tent by the water and put all the tables there, so people can see the duck race. Reminder: $25 for the Duck dinners before the event, $30 at the door. If you sell 20 tickets and pay by the 10th, you will receive 5 small race tickets as a bonus. Work meeting at the camp is Thursday, September 10th. ALL ARE EXPECTED TO SHOW UP AT 6AM ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH TO WRAP DUCKS AND HELP GET READY FOR THE DAY.

  • Tom has been writing an article that will be going into the south shore press every couple of weeks. If you have news that you want in, please send it to Tom.

  • If you have made up a meeting or attended another Rotary event, please let Deborah know so she can mark you as attending a meeting.
