BRING A FRIEND TO ROTARY
The meeting began at 6:35 by President
Steve at our new location Ladikins with the pledge, song and
prayer. Present at the meeting was the following members:Bob Walker
Jr., Susan, Ed, Joe, Ralph, Bob Dovale, Julie, Barbara, Jim, Roy,
Peter, Bill, Cheryl, Denise, President Elect Murial, Newt,
Treasurer, Rich, Secretary Joanne, Past District Governor Garry, Dr.
Sighn, Werner, & President Steve. We had 22 members present. We
had two guests Our District Governor David Ardam and Arthur Wilcox.
President Steve introduced our new
District Governor David M. Ardam. He is a member of Commack/Kings
Park Club. He is a member of Rotary since 1981. He is married to
Diane Ardam. By profession he is a lawyer. There are 33 clubs in our
district and our club was the 20th club he visited. He talked about
the Rotary Institute, its 3 levels 1-2-3 plus Graduate courses. He
suggested we should encourage members of our club to attend. It is
$90.00 per person to attend. Roy, Steve & Julie showed definet
interest in attending. This will take place at the Islandia Marriott
starting at 7:30 AM on Saturday , Oct. 20, 2007. This is meant for
Rotarians at all levels of knowledge and experience. It is designed
to create future leaders of Rotary.
Rotary was begun on Feb. 23, 1905 It
was held in room 711 of the Unity Building on Dearborn St. in
downtown Chicago.
The President of Rotary International
is Wilfred Wilkenson. He is from Canada and married to wife Joan.
The theme for this year is Rotary Shares. Dave presented all of us
with a Rotary Shares pin.
Rotary is an organization in which
ordinary people do extraordinary things such as Potlio plus, Our
Camp Paquatuck & Group Study Exchange (Phillipeans), Our Camp
Paquatuck etc. We are going there & then they will be coming here.
John Forte will be coming around to collect for Polio Plus.
It was a real pleasure to have the
District Governor attend our meeting.
Our Guest Artie Wilcox was presented
with a plaque for his work at the camp Duck barbecue for over 50
years. He mixed up the seasoning for duck every year and timed the
turning of the ducks etc. Congratulations Artie and thank you for
all your years of serving our club & Camp..
Barbara asked for a vote to get a
check for a wheel barrel of toys to be raffled at Christmas.
Muriel will show a 10 minute film next
week on the UN & Polio Plus.
On October 31st. Dr. Sighn will do a
demo on Yoga so dress down for that meeting.
